Mt. Vernon High School Performing Arts

Hello:

To start, I want to thank Dave Anderson for creating our new website. Mr. Anderson's work and dedication to our program has been in evidence for quite some time in the form of his concert and show video's, the website is just a further example of his dedication. Thanks!

Choir students will start in earnest on Thursday with their first Gray Day but actually things will get started on Wednesday afternoon with auditions for "The Commedia del Arte Princess and the Pea", the 2008 children's theatre show. Auditions will be on Wednesday at 3:30 and again on Thursday at 6:00.

Other upcoming auditions are for "Angelus" a select four voice women's ensemble that will perform sacred works from the medieval period to present day. Those auditions will take place on Aug. 20 at 3:30pm and again on Aug. 21 at 6:30pm. Vocalpoint, our musical theatre group will be in auditions the following week on Aug. 27 at 3:30pm and Aug 28 at 6:00pm. More information about these audition will be given in class.

Technical Theatre students will start on Tuesday, our first Maroon day,. This promises to be an exciting year with new opportunities for student designed productions and additional training in audio applications and lighting design for the advanced students. Beginning students will start with rigging and lighting.

USITT members will be looking at a trip to the USITT Expo and Conference which will be held in Cincinnati next March. Club sign-ups won't happen until OIctober but we will start in earnest prior to that.
